Kentucky Requires Notice on Disclosure of Local Government Taxes

Effective January 1, 2009

In compliance with Kentucky House Bill 524 passed in 2008, CMG MI is required to notify all current Kentucky policyholders in regard to their rights regarding payment of local government taxes:

  • Your CMG MI insurance premium may be subject to a license fee or tax imposed by a Kentucky local government. The amount of the fee or tax is determined by the local government where the insured risk is located. For most mortgage insurance policies, this tax is determined by the location of the property used as collateral for the insured loan.

  • Effective January 1, 2009, in addition to the Kentucky tax amount, the taxing jurisdiction will be shown on all future Certificates for your policy. For Certificates already in force as of July 1, 2008, please contact our Policy Servicing Center at (800) 714-4264 if you wish to receive a copy of any Certificate with the Kentucky jurisdictional information added.

If you believe that you have been erroneously charged or have been overcharged the tax based upon the jurisdiction listed, you may contact us for information on how to request a refund or credit for the tax paid if it is determined such a refund or credit is appropriate.
