CMG MI Supports Cookies for Soldiers
For many U.S. soldiers posted to Iraq, it’s the taste of home they miss most. Like Girl Scout Cookies!
Fortunately, many individual Americans and corporations stateside are ready to support the troops by sending them the Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs and Do-Si-Dos they crave. CMG MIers stepped up to the challenge when Account Executive Stephanie Roth sent out an SOS.
CMG MI AE Stephanie Roth | Stephanie’s daughter, Jenna, is a Brownie tasked with selling Girl Scout cookies every year. This January was no different. Jenna’s Uncle John, who retired from the Army last May after serving his country for 21 years, told his family how much the troops enjoy receiving treats and gifts from the folks back home.
Hearing this, Jenna and Stephanie decided to organize a drive to purchase cookies for soldiers. They asked Uncle John for specific troops to send them to and he named one unit with more than 200 soldiers.
Stephanie contacted her CMG MI colleagues as well as other friends and family about the mission and was thrilled by the response. “We wound up shipping 234 boxes of cookies to our troops overseas!” she said. “It was terrific to get that kind of response. It was a great experience for my daughter, to know that people care enough to send ‘a little bit of home’ to our soldiers.”
It can take weeks for packages from the United States to reach the soldiers in Iraq. Stephanie and Jenna are confident that the cookies will reach their ultimate destination and be much appreciated by homesick soldiers.
